I got to visit this magnificent tree in 2015, when on Maui for a friend's wedding. Miraculously, it survived the Maui fires of August 2023. The tree was planted in 1873 and measured only 8 ft tall. Before the fire, it had grown to more than 60 feet tall, with its many trunks spreading across two-thirds of an acre, filling an entire city block.
