(2) 8x10 original acrylic paintings on cradled wood board
In the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma, a wild bison herd runs free! And sometimes they stand in the road and stare at you. Sometimes they eat a little flower snack. I named this one for "Flowers for Lefty" because I took a photo of two bison eating in a flower field, and when I painted it, Willy and Merle's version of "Pancho and Lefty" was playing in my head. Such a sad song.
In my head, I imagine Pancho and Lefty as two lovers, living as outlaws, slowly separated by Pancho's declining health, until they finally come up with a plan to allow Lefty to live out the rest of his days comfortably. I *know* that Pancho Villa was a real person and that there is absolutely no evidence of this, but in my head, it's a beautiful, heartbreaking story.
