Original acrylic painting, 8 x 10
This was the third painting I made on my big 2017 Labor Day Loop trip. The drive into Wyoming was exhilarating. I had never been to Wyoming before, and I expected mountains and ranches and dusty cowboys, based on the movie The Man From Snowy River (which may not even be Wyoming?? I don't know!). What I found was sweeping, golden expanses of grasses with giant, jagged rock formations jutting up every one in a while. Oh, and the occasional windmill.
I painted this piece on a road in South Dakota, which must have been a good place to stop and paint, because I was quickly joined by the painter Daniel Wornicov and his family. We stayed the whole day paintings and sipping beers. It was a great day.
